Although musculoskeletal diseases are more prevalent among people age 65 and older, because there are more individuals in the age range 45-64 at the current time due the size of the baby boom cohort, a larger percentage of those reporting musculoskeletal conditions in 2012-2014 were 45-64 (37.9%) than were 65 or older (25.9%). A major share of those reporting these conditions in 2012-2014 were also in early adulthood, 18-44 years of age (28.6%), while fewer than one in 12 occurred among those less than 18 years of age (7.7%).
